Artist statement
My major project for CAMS380 is a 2-track EP entitled “Two Worlds”, which embodies the tumultuous journey of a girl suffering from bipolar disorder. This was inspired by my own personal experience.
The first track entitled “Under The Surface” characterises the heavy, dark mood of severe depression. The second track entitled “Playing With Fire” draws the listener into the world of mania with an urgent, energetic pace that crashes and burns.
Both tracks were produced in the recording studio with myself on piano, vocals and string arrangement. My collaborators were Anielle Saminaden on backing vocals, and Jai Cole on guitar and drums.
The aim of my EP is to act as therapy for myself and any listener who may relate, and to promote understanding and empathy towards those with bipolar disorder.
