Artist statement

The Statue is an EP comprising three songs: “The Mould,” “The Carver,” and “The Statue.” The project explores the pressures and expectations placed on individuals. The first track, “The Mould,” addresses societal expectations of women, challenging unrealistic standards through a neo-soul sound. “The Carver” is more personal, reflecting on the expectations placed on me by family and friends, alongside my desire to exceed them. The final track, “The Statue,” explores feeling lost within these pressures and struggling to break free from the ‘broken’ identity they create.

I provide vocals throughout the EP. Jai Cole plays guitar on “The Carver,” while Lewis Kerr, Ben Chin, and Ethan Tudor contribute guitar, bass, and drums respectively on “The Statue.”
