Artist statement
‘here we go again’ is an EP that explores the uncertainty of growing up, feeling behind, and learning to accept that everyone moves at their own pace. Musically, I draw inspiration from Sons of the East for their instrumentation and from Gilroy for their lyricism. I developed the songs collaboratively, starting with piano and vocal demos before arranging them with a live ensemble. My recording process focuses on capturing the interaction between performers.
‘not there yet’ explores the uncertainty of growing up, questioning old ambitions and feeling unsure about the future. The song has Matisse Pearce on vocals, Lewis Kerr on guitar, Callum Spillane on bass and me on piano.
‘on my way’ reflects on coming to terms with feeling behind and learning to move forward at your own pace. This song also has Matisse on vocals and harmonica, Lewis on guitar, Callum on bass, and me on piano.
‘in good times’ is an instrumental piece that embraces slowing down, appreciating the present and accepting that life unfolds in its own time, with Matisse on guitar, me on piano and synth and Lewis on guitar.
