Isaac Sybell, professionally known as danté, is a multi-instrumentalist music producer who creates within the styles of Neo-Soul and R&B. Isaac’s passion for music production has led to the creation of multiple songs on Spotify, most notably the single ‘WHAT SHE WANT’ by Jamal Baq, which has surpassed 14,000 streams.
Artist statement
My major project ‘In Spite of,’ is a three track EP that centres around conflicts within a relationship. Rooted in Neo-Soul and R&B with influences from artists such as Maesago, 6lack and Avenoir, I’ve created a storyline that follows a couple navigating through their conflicting natures, feelings of hopelessness and eventual resolution.
I intentionally provided two opposing perspectives to challenge the different ideals and values a relationship may face as opposed to justifying one viewpoint as inherently correct. These viewpoints allow for the audience to resonate more deeply with the music and draw upon their own experiences to enhance the narrative of the story.
Within this project I embraced the majority of the production and worked in collaboration with Romana Raseki on vocals, melodies and lyrics as well as Jai Cole for piano improvisation. I also sourced help from Jamal Baq for production feedback along with mixing and mastering.
