Artist statement

My major project, Life Takes Hold, is a 15-minute EP consisting of post-punk songs that explore the impact of prioritising work over personal relationships.

The project reflects on the breakdown of relationships examining connection, conflict, emotional distance & self-reflection. Sonically, the EP explores how post-punk can communicate vulnerability through its combination of rhythms, textures, tension & dynamics.

My production process involves experimenting with vocal layering, effects, noise & instrumentation to shape the emotional identity of each track. I want to retain a raw, imperfect DIY aesthetic while making deliberate production choices that support the EP’s narrative. Through this project, I’ve developed my songwriting, recording & production skills while honestly reflecting on personal growth & accountability.
