Artist Bio
Timothy Nguyen is a guitarist and composer based in Wollongong, whose compositions aim to blend musical styles. He has spent the last three years completing an undergraduate degree in music, recording songs in the studio and perfecting his production skills in digital software both at university and at home.
Artist Statement
My major project evolved from the idea of expanding my production and composition skills into genres I haven’t had the chance to explore. My EP is a three-track recording, in which I challenged myself to learn the differences between genres and incorporate them into my arrangements. I have chosen to base my songs in the style of J-Pop, J-Rock and City Pop.
The overall theme for my EP is the pursuit of an idea or ambition. Each track tackles a different issue I envision people facing in their daily lives – such as the sense of belonging or identity.
My work features Kane Upton on drums for ‘Clouds’, Rosie Dempsey on vocals for ‘Reality’ and Bailey Stevenson on vocals for ‘Chasing Dreams’. For myself, I have recorded the lead and rhythm guitars in the studio alongside mixing and mastering the EP.
