Artist Statement

My project, The Anchor, is an EP that uses nautical imagery and oceanic metaphors to explore insecurity, emotional dependency, and transformation. Across its three stages — Drifting, Sinking, and Surfacing — the EP charts an emotional journey from avoidance to acceptance. As both a singer-songwriter and producer, I aimed to build an immersive sound world where the ocean becomes both setting and metaphor. Blending genres and sounds, I combined fluid textures (reverb-soaked guitars, synths, and ambient sound design) with more grounded elements (bass, drums, and acoustic instruments).

Each track is shaped around contrasts: fluid guitars and synths against grounded drums and bass, fragility against strength. Field recordings of waves, splashes, and seabirds are woven through the mix, blurring the boundary between music and environment. The EP was mixed and produced independently, with recording collaborators including Miranda Green, Riley Geer and Clarence Brown. The project became both story and self-reflection, a way to confront, release and rise reborn.
