Miranda Green

Artist Bio

Miranda Green (MIRAN.DA) is a Wollongong-based artist who blends RnB, pop-rock and DIY practices. From a young age she taught herself production, experimenting with electronic, ambient and RnB techniques while learning to sing from classic voices such as Amy Winehouse and Ella Fitzgerald. The synthesis of her production practice and live performance has resulted in a lively, intensely creative landscape for her gritty vocals to shine.

Artist Statement

HOW TO CARE is a three-track EP highlighting different elements of the concept of ‘caring’. Written in response to the current climate crisis and my own struggles with health limiting my independence, these songs fight apathy in the face of difficulty.

Each song’s recording was built from a base of live band performances, featuring Clarence Brown on keys, Riley Geer on drums and Flynn Putt on bass/guitar. I recorded live to capture the raw energy of the music and situate the songs in a space, and to evoke a sense of place. This element of reality is important particularly as AI music begins to copy and replace real music. It is an environmentally degrading technology which homogenizes culture and distracts from the more serious issues of war and climate change that plague our world.

I hope to present my songs to the world live and on streaming platforms, so my anthems of change, resistance and love can inspire people to care.
