Artist Bio

Artist Statement

My project is called Learning Curve, a two-track EP that was self-produced, mixed and recorded. The purpose of Learning Curve is to push myself outside of my comfort zone, using this semester to explore electronic genres, production techniques, and practices.

Track one, titled ‘Reboot’, is completely composed and produced within Ableton using their stock sound library, MIDI, plugins, and common VSTs. This track was designed to explore production and practice techniques used when producing hyperpop, embracing all the digital flaws and musical glitches that come along with creating electronic music.

The second track, ‘Signal Found’, combines the acoustic and electronic musical languages, with live-tracked bass guitar – meant to feel intentionally quantised by using Ableton’s punch-in and out feature – mixed with harsh electronic 808 and MIDI drums, stepping away from the hyperpop genre while still using the techniques employed in ‘Reboot’ to create new opportunities for musical development.
