Artist Bio
Matthew has been drumming since the age of 5, and has developed an immense love for patterns and rhythm. In their long musical journey, exploring composition through a drummer’s lens has been pivotal to their creative career. In recent years, however, musical production has been the focal point of improvement, with the aim of creating music intended to make audiences laugh and dance.
Artist Statement
My project is the product of years of hyperfixations on sound, patterns, ideas, and lessons to do with music in a digital scene, as well as on growth of creativity as a whole. Sampling is a universal musical technique that has fascinated me for years. Growing up with Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, Big Audio Dynamite and many other influences, helped me grow a strong love for sampling as an aspect of production and the vision of a song as a web of connected sounds in harmony with one another.
The central purpose of my EP is to expand my knowledge of musical production and performance in the context of sampling, as well as how themes and stories can be presented through sound and music.
