Artist Bio
Aydin Richards is a songwriter and pianist who loves writing deep and meaningful music. Aydin’s musical background began with his roots, growing up in Bulgaria and learning to play the piano. When he moved to Australia, he encountered Western styles, developing a deep interest in film music. His songs are dreamy with undertones of rock and electronic music.
Artist Statement
I present to you Hope is a Beautiful Word, an EP that sheds light on my struggles, hopes and dreams. It begins with the title track, an alternative rock song with undertones of soft rock, which tells the story of finding hope in the darkness of depression – when everything hurts inside and you just want to give up, but there’s fight left in you to find the light: your hope. The hope I found is God, who has helped restore me, piece by piece, to someone who has joy again.
The second track, ‘Dreams’, is about me dealing with a career crisis and fear of the unknown, learning to trust in God’s great plans and realising the great adventure in front of me. This song is a more of a ballad, which combines rock and 1950’s ballad styles together.
In the performance you will also see a speaker which once belonged to my grandfather, which I recreated and restored to its former glory – something I wanted to challenge myself to achieve over the course of this project.
