Artist Statement
My EP consists of three songs in the style of post-punk/slacker rock. Each consecutive song grows in intensity both sonically and thematically. The instrumentation was recorded and produced to feel raw and organic, with instruments including Guitar, Bass, MIDI Synth, Drums and Vocals. The overall project is a live audio and video recording of the EP’s songs, staged with theatre flats on each side of the group which display live projections of black-and-white videos during the performance.
The project is a musical and visual exploration of our detrimental impact on the natural environment – an impact that we cause, somewhat unknowingly and incrementally, by choosing and creating ‘easier’ options to live our everyday lives. Hence the EP’s name: Minor Inconveniences.
In recording and producing this work, I opted to take a documentary approach to bring out the authentic human aspect, rather than creating an ultra-polished studio recording.
