Artist bio
Ben Carey is a song writer mainly focused on rock, metal and the occasional acoustic piece. He has been playing guitar for around 8 years studying at AIM and now UOW to improve his skill set. He has played in multiple musical performances and other gigs around the Illawarra such as Shrek and most recently the wedding singer which were both performed at the Ipac.
Program notes
My project is a mostly acoustic project with a surprise metal ending. It was hard to choose what this EP was going to be about since I have so many different styles that I like to play and write in but after some thought and even some last minute changes due to different circumstances I have come out the other end after these past few months with a project that I can at least put forward that I am fairly happy with the outcome of.
My main concerns with this project were again like other projects time restraint since I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist so I have to make sure that part of my brain isn’t interfering with the overall progress of the EP. I can say that even though compared to other project I did much better with this, I still did get affected and hindered by my perfectionist nature. Mostly when it came to choosing how the songs were going to go and recording them to make sense with each other. I think that what I’ve come up with for this EP as a final thing is good, but I still think there is room for improvement when it comes to my recording process and song writing process. For future projects I will continue to evolve as a song writer and take the lessons I’ve learned from this assessment into my other works.
