Program notes

My major project River Lilies is a 3-track EP which is primarily concerned with expressing manifestations of the past, future, and the uncertainty of the in-between. I have attempted to convey these concepts using textural and dynamic contrasts and exploring melodic and harmonic relationships. Delicate melodies and intimate lyrics contrast with brighter tone colours and instrumentation, evoking an overall feeling of nostalgia: looking back, losing balance, and trying to find the way back to the present. With this EP I hope for the audience and myself to reflect on the intricacies of life within the infinite chaos of the big picture. Thanks to Gerty Balbao (piano), George Schweitzer (guitar), Ellie Thompson (drums), and Jack Robbie (bass) for their help playing and recording.
