Program notes

My major project is a three piece EP describes the journey of growing up as girl. The first two songs explore the challenges that girls face and how we can feel pressured by society to act and look a certain way as well as talking about not being protected by innocence, seeing the world how it truly is. However the last song completely switches up and celebrates all the things that makes girls, girls. It talks about the small things that all girls relate to and love to do together, talks about sisterhood and how wonderful being a girl can be. I want to convey a personal story that all girls can relate to find comfort through my lyrics. In my first two songs I have Brody Blackman playing guitar in one song and Jack Clare playing piano in the other song. In my final song I have Gerty Balbao, Ellie Thompson, Ella Quist, Annabelle O’Reilly and Emily Whisson. I wrote all my songs by myself but then left room for ideas from all the musicians who helped me.
