Artist bio
Ethan Ferguson is a drummer emerging from the Wollongong music scene keen to show the local community and the world his potential. From a young age Ethan has taken naturally to rhythm and through the drums he discovered peace, creativity, and a purpose. His newest EP is his debut self-directed work and is sure to take you into a world of wonder.
Program notes
My project is a three track E.P written and recorded primarily by myself. The main aim for this project is to be an emotional and aural journey through aspects of key, tone, and rhythm with a keen focus on temp and articulation. The first track brings forth a sense of wonder and scale. With hard notes and massive drums, I wanted this track to be larger than life and make you want to just jump off the edge and into the unknown. My third track is an acoustic/rock combination that starts off as a close nit room piece, quickly merging into a driving ensemble. My second track was especially elusive to me this semester. It took on many forms, but essentially evolved into a lo-fi, groovy underground hip hop meets dance and acoustic.
In order to bring my third track to life in a live setting, I have myself on drums, Martin on keys, JB on bass, Brody on guitar and Evan on the sax.
