Artist bio
Tishaan Styche is a singer song writer who learnt to love to music in her early years in high school. Through researching the many talented artists/ inspirations involved in the genre, her passion for singing and playing guitar in a folk rock acoustic style grew into a new appreciation for ambient and experimental music. This expanded her depths in music knowledge through investigating alternatives to teaching musical concepts that she later plans to apply to her career in high school music teaching.
Program notes
I will be creating an audio installation within an interactive space, titled ‘Potency’. The project replicates the sense of creating music without the necessity or requirements for understanding musical concepts/ theory. I have built a simplistic and naive stringed instrument in which I aim to invite my audience to engage with on their own to exemplify how accessible and inclusive music can be with a less intimidating approach to typical music lessons. I have also created an ambient and spacious piece of music to allow the audience to interact with. A portion of my work also aims to expose the beauty of ‘pre considered randomness’ whilst also creating a meditative space for the audience, the composition will also be accepted to sit and listen to. Special thanks for the collaborators involved in production assistance including Ryley R Condon, Darcy Penkethman, Caysee Furlong, Benjamin Carroll and the TAEM staff for their assistance in giving the installation an area to thrive.
