Artist bio
Darcy Penkethman is a pianist-songwriter who’s passionate about videography and its interplay with music. From the far south coast of NSW where he enjoys surfing, skating, and having a good time with his mates. Darcy enjoys the freedom and personal challenge of combining the unique worlds in an avante-garde way.
Program notes
My project is a 10.5-minute skate surf visual-audio experience, an ode to the cherished memories of the past. It’s a fusion of musical genres – house, and techno, where I aim to transport the audience back to the “good old days” with a modern twist. Collaborating with the talented musicians Ben and Tishaan, I’ve crafted a sonic journey filled with funky harmonies and high-tempo drumlines, creating a sense of time slipping away when having a blast.
The visual component entails a surf and skate movie, featuring: Wade, Liam, Clancy, Fredd, Galen, Jye, Aston, Braith, Alice, and Tom, seamlessly blending moments from the past and the present. Together, this project serves as a celebration of nostalgia and the enduring moments of memories. I’m deeply grateful to my collaborators for bringing this vision to life.
