Artist bio
Daniel is a musician studying at UOW, primarily an acoustic guitar performer, but also plays electric guitar, piano, and sings. He’s done various performances in duos and small groups throughout high school and university, and wishes to keep pursuing music and find his form of self expression moving forward.
Program notes
This project marks the first time I have properly attempted to write lyrics for my music, so I found it a bit more difficult than anticipated to open up and find what to write about. In a way, that’s what the project was about to me, my journey in finding lyrical self expression. Musically, I’m still finding my style, but I had a lot of fun taking little ideas I’ve had on guitar and piano and expanding them into full songs.
In the first 2 tracks, I had help from talented drummer and producer Matt McNaughton to write the drums. The second track was also blessed by the amazing saxophonist Evan Batkin. The rest of the project and all its parts I did my best to put together myself, as it felt like quite a personal project and I wanted to push myself and see what I’m capable of.
