Artist bio
Jack Clare is a Singer/Keyboardist/Song-Writer with a unique take on genres such as Neo-Soul, RnB and Funk. Through his songs, Jack intends to not only win over an audience musically, but also through his lyricism, often aiming to touch on topics close to his heart.
Program notes
My project, titled “JACK”, is a performance consisting of three songs presented through a live recording. “JACK” is an exploration into the influences that made me the artist that I am, and the process of breaking away from those influences, trying to find who I am artistically through a sound that Is original to me. Through a band consisting of members Evan Batkin (Saxophone), Ethan Ferguson (Drums), Martin Sholl (Keys), JB (Bass) and Brody Blackman (Guitar), I intend to bring three songs to life, each song being a view into the process of breaking away from the comfortability of musical influences. The three tracks titled “Tell me how you feel”, “Please Don’t” & “Me” act as a continuous story, highlighting the ups & downs of finding who you are as your own musician, and saying goodbye to those who have influenced you. The performance/Live-recording lend themselves to this sentiment, as performance has been a prevalent focus of mine throughout my musical journey, as well as the live-recorded aspect that will focus on the intricacies/imperfections that can’t be captured through studio recordings. “JACK” in all regards, is a musical showcase of who I have become, and the people who have helped me get here.
