Ralphie is a guitarist and song writer. He writes and records short songs that feature characters and storylines inspired by his favourite books, music and other media. Ralphie uses his music as a medium for experimentation and play and aims to entertain audiences with quirky melodies and puzzling lyrics.
My project is a 3-song ep that focuses on being “Homemade”. To do this, I created a few instruments, including a woodwind and a couple of stringed instruments, using items that can be found around the house. These instruments are featured alongside guitar, sampled percussion and my vocals in 3 songs of a variety of musical and aesthetic differences. This is a solo project in which I recorded each of the song myself using my own home setup and using different rooms of my flat for different recording qualities. This project challenges the homogeneity of popular music and asks audiences to consider the potential of non-conventional music production.
