Alex is a multi-instrumentalist that has been playing live music and working as a touring live sound engineer with, blues and roots, rock, country and folk bands at various venues and festivals around Australia for the past 25 years. His instrument of choice is the bass guitar and this tends to have his compositions be, based around the bass.
I have created a three song EP named, ‘Struggles, Politics, and You’, drawing on my influences from the 1970’s, including The Meters, Bill Withers, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and other blues rock and funk based bands. I enjoy utilising the interplay of common meter with odd meter, along with the push and pull of cross rhythms. I have used this enjoyment of rhythmic interplay by adding sections of these techniques as a signatures during the songs identifying this work as my own. I have written, performed, recorded, and engineered this EP myself, which is something I have wanted to accomplish for many years.
