Cody is a guitarist and has been playing since he was in high school. During his time playing, his influences have evolving starting at the Red Hot Chilli Peppers but now wanting to follow his passion in instrumental math rock into his world outside of uni.
My project is a 3-track instrumental EP main guitar and drum based. The drums on all tracks were performed by Chet Tucker of my class and the violin being done by Amber Newell. The other instruments throughout were recorded by me, and mixed and mastered by me. Tackling these songs was difficult as I want my music to be both instrumental and still engaging from the audience side of things. Songs like ‘Sorry, I’ve never been good at math’ I hope to achieve this with clean, smooth guitar sound, with violin layered on top. The other songs on my ep are also both tuned to an alternatively, with “Infinite Horizons’ being in open D, and ‘Fire Flight’ being in open F. This was done to allow extra ‘openness’ within the pieces and allows an extra layer of depth within.
