Program notes
Human Heart EP (stylised as the emoji ❤️) has been the most ambitious project I’ve worked on during my music studies at university. The concept of the EP began as a experiment of introducing folk characteristics to other variations of music like pop and rock. Another idea for the project was heavily inspired by living in isolation within my hometown of Mudgee, NSW. During this year’s lockdown, I began writing songs about people and messages of love and acceptance. ‘Beautiful’ acts as the lead single/EP opener to the project. The song addresses a positive message of loving yourself and accepting others for who and what they are. ‘Hungry Eyes’ was written during one rainy day as I was reminiscing about a special someone. It’s a love song that wishes them well from far away. *Lullaby Love’ is the concluding track about my thoughts on complex topics in the current world.
