Zara Taylor

Zara Taylor is a multi-instrumentalist, performing with both cello and the bass guitar from a young age. Originally from the Northern Beaches in Sydney, she moved to Wollongong to pursue music at a tertiary level. Throughout her time at university, she has discovered an interest in creating unique soundscapes and the art of acoustic scenography.

“Found Sound is an interactive ASMR-inspired sound installation that features a ten-minute composition I created using sounds found around us in everyday life, with the aim to produce a relaxing and intimate experience for listeners. The space also includes workstations equipped with microphones and a variety of objects where participants have the opportunity to create their own ASMR sounds, adding their own creative contribution to my piece if they wish to. The project was catalysed by my passion for music therapy and personal use of ASMR to aid anxiety. I combined the two to create an experience where participants can gain a better understanding of the therapeutic effects of music and draw attention to the fact that music can be found in sounds all around us.

I would also like to thank Ashton Low for supporting me in every technical difficulty I encountered and Robbie Gyngell for providing his beautiful voice.”
