“‘The Challenger Project’ is a dance music EP and live audio/visual show inspired by the 1986 Challenger space shuttle disaster. Comprised of three tracks; “Ascent”, “Descent” & “Impact” , the Electronic composition traces the story of the space shuttle in three eponymous stages. The EP component to this project is a combination of live studio recordings, digital and analogue synthesis, sampling and compositional elements inspired by Drum and bass, Breakbeat percussion and Techno soundscapes. The recordings included live vocals performed by Robbie Gyngell, Beatbox, performed by Max Williamson, keys, drums and synthesisers played by myself.
The performative element to this project is an expansion of my practice as a producer and DJ. Through the use of Ableton Live production software in conjunction with performative video software EboSuite I aim to create a live music video performance. By using my musical instruments as a means of creating visual expression, I intent to create a truely immersive musical and visual experience that transcends genre.”
