Robbie Vaughan

Robert Vaughan is a music producer based in Wollongong. His background of hip-hop music has influenced his style through the use of genre sampling seen within golden age hip-hop, as well as bringing modern hard hitting trap drums. With the splice of analog, digital and acoustic instrumentation, he creates his very own and unique style of music.
“My project ‘DRIVE DMC’ is a musical journey that explores three different generations of youth, from the 70s to the present. This is represented through musical styles, musical mediums through cars, as well as a soundscape.
The tracks styles are:
Funk (Radio Hill)
Grunge Rock (Happy Hour)
Trap Rap (Hoopty)
These pieces explore musical elements such as analog, digital, and live sound instrumentation. Some songs utilize techniques such as sampling and live recordings that create ambient and soundscape layers. Through research of these styles that were popular in these generations I incorporated instrumentation, technology and musical elements relating to each era. This was to achieve authenticity to the genres, as well as adding my own style to the songs. The EP artwork was done by Wollongong visual artist Rachel Hunt.”
