Jessie McDermott
Jessie McDermott is a songwriter, guitarist, pianist, and vocalist from the Riverina. She has been creating music since she first joined her school choir in primary school. She works within the indie music genre, but also enjoys experimenting within the country music genre.
“With this project, I wanted to create a narrative-based piece, that could explore the interesting adventures that my family’s cats have been on over the years. The wildness of these creatures perfectly reflects the unruliness of the Wild West. I really wanted to encapsulate the style of early country music and reflected this through a modest recording set-up.
For the first and second song, my collaborators were Samantha Fletcher on guitar and vocals, Morrisey Powell on percussion and vocals, and Rowena Russell on vocals, and the final song was a solo piece. The album art was made by Wylie Lucas, a fellow cat-lover.
