Ilarose Samia

Ilarose is a vocalist and songwriter from Wollongong that is currently studying a double degree in journalism and you guessed it music, she has been singing her entire life and is currently obsessed/inspired by r’n’b music and her Filipino culture and will find any excuse to incorporate it into everything.
““Anything but Not Everything in a Picture” is a 3 track EP which is about the idea that when we take pictures or frame a moment anything can be in that picture but not everything that is or has happened can be captured. I’ve chosen to write the songs about my everyday life from the exciting to the mundane.
The EP has a r’n’b and singer-songwriter feel that was heavily influenced by artists such as Zack Tabudlo, Beabadoobee and Niki who’s storytelling like lyrical style can be heard especially in track 1 and 2. To further emphasise integrating my everyday life into these tracks I decided to use recordings of some of my favourite people sampling them and with some pitch shifting and distortion turning the samples into essentially a lot of the instrumentation in all 3 of my tracks.
I would like to give a big thank you to Lachlan Dibley for playing guitar in all 3 of my tracks and everyone who has allowed me to record/sample them for my EP.”
