Gerard Smith
Gerard is a musician from the Sydney region who aspires to be impactful and evocative to all the listeners he plays to. Through a deep love for authenticity and vulnerability, Gerard aims to use his music as a platform to better understand himself and find the truth in what he experiences.
“‘Mirrors Perspective’ is a 3 song Extended Play that attempts to capture the feeling of being at an impactful and emotive live performance, (particularly those at festivals and other large crowd gigs) and use it as a source to create meaningful music. The way I wanted to do this was through condensing the key moments/movements (opening, body, finale/outro) of a set list into 3 songs and by having all of these songs played and recorded with a live band in order to capture the authenticity of a performance.
My band members are; Ashton (Drums), Zach (Bass), Max (Guitar) and Oliver (Synth/Piano). Within my major project I brought foundational composition but allowed each band member to add their own style to it. I believe this collaboration to be an important factor in allowing authenticity to breathe and have its own place within my major project.”
