Olivia Spiteri
Olivia Spiteri has been a singer-songwriter since she was in high school. She lives in Shellharbour, Wollongong, and her music is inspired by her life experiences. Olivia blends genuine emotion and vocal methods to deliver a message and utilise a voice that is completely her own when she sings.
“For my CAMS380 Major Music work, I created a 3 track EP called ‘Tidal Waves of Life’, representing the genre outline for my 3 songs. This EP tells a story of feeling lost, seeking help, and accepting help. The use of vocal motifs will emphasise my tracks.
The first track of the EP is called ‘Barely Breathing’’. This piece is a pop ballad based on the feeling of loss and the stages you go through during this time. For instance, sadness that turns into anger. My vocals are the main component following backing instruments such as piano and guitar.
The second track in the EP is called ‘Empty’. This piece is a sad pop song but remains to be upbeat. This piece also represents the stage of grief where your emotions are primarily angry, but you are seeking help from those who care most about you during these times. My vocals remain strong and emphasise phrases that signify seeking help. Max Ramirez is featured in this performance as he plays the electric guitar to accompany me.
The third track in the EP is called ‘Unstoppable’. This piece is a pop rock song that symbolises a sense of acceptance and the importance of how strong we are as individuals no matter what obstacles you may run into throughout life. Vocals are the primary component accompanied by instruments such as drums, keyboard synths and guitar.”
