Kaitlin is a singer songwriter, who has been singing and playing piano since a young age. She has always been interested in the musical arts and her passion for music only grew as she got older. She currently sings and writes music in her band The Huneez based in Wollongong alongside teaching singing and piano to students.
My project is a solo exploratory piece that aims to engage with traditional performative elements alongside midi triggering. I want to create a soundscape of pop and electronic sounds, by singing and playing keyboard while using an Ableton launchpad in my performance. ‘I’m Okay Too’ started with lyrics with a concept that expresses this overall fear that I feel a lot of people can relate to where you don’t want to let your guard down and potentially get hurt by the people your closest to, but then I’m also reminding myself in the song that it’s okay to find a place where you are happy with just being alone with yourself. These ideas have come to light through the musical decisions I made by weaving together strong vocal melodies, piano harmonies and an electronic beat to build the song.
