Myrtle Sebastian is a multi-instrumentalist and an aspiring audio engineer\/producer from Campbelltown in Sydney\u2019s South West. After gaining an interest in Pop Punk and Hardcore music, Myrtle learned how to play guitar at the age of 10. He has then expanded his musical ability across multiple instruments, including Drums, Bass Guitar and Piano.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he\u2019s not writing or recording songs for his own personal enjoyment, he spends his time musically performing and writing songs for his band \u2018Trenchknife\u2019, which has allowed him to tour interstate and play in cities such as; Melbourne, Canberra, Gold Coast and Newcastle.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He sees music, whether played or created, as a form of therapy and catharsis, finding himself in a state of content and overall satisfaction.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

My project \u201cThe Calm Before The Storm\u201d is an EP that consists of 4 songs. The intention and overall concept of the project was to find a way to create and produce contrasting but also similar pieces of music that cater to all music genres and subgenres I heavily associate myself with. With pieces ranging from Emo all the way to Metalcore and everything inbetween, I accordingly set each piece in the EP to showcase a progression from a mellow, ambient song to a completely aggressive and provocative one. Conceptually relating to the EP\u2019s title. \u201cBloom\u201d the EP\u2019s opening track, introduces the sense of calmness and peace and the last two tracks \u201cDecay\u201d and \u201cRegrowth\u201d are considered the climax of the EP or the \u2018Storm\u2019. To further showcase my versatility, the second track \u201cWither\u201d is a clear representation of both sides of the spectrum, implementing various elements between all songs. I pay homage and gain influence from bands such as Movements, Counterparts, Knocked Loose and Expire (just to name a few) to ultimately generate a sense of originality I call my own.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took this as an opportunity to thoroughly demonstrate my own musical and creative identity and my versatility within creating various forms of music. I wanted this project to be the foundation in what I hope to achieve further along my music career, whether it be a performer, composer, producer or ideally; all of the above. In doing so, every creative decision and execution was completed by me with minimal collaboration from others, with the exception in songs such as \u201cWither\u201d and \u201cRegrowth\u201d where \u2018Gang vocals\u2019 were utilised. These additional voices were provided by: Jackson Andrews, Trent Bendeich and Ricky Joseski.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
