From solo gigs to vocal ensembles to band performances, Rachel has had countless experiences with these three ways of performing music in her lifetime, of which she exhibits in her 3 track EP\u2018Bad Habits\u2019. She uses her vocal, guitar and piano skills to address a different \u2018bad habit\u2019 of society in each song.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

My three track EP, \u2018Bad Habits\u2019, addresses social\/political issues that are close to my heart, while also representing my musical journey from solo gigs, to vocal ensembles to bands.The EP starts off with \u2018Hazy\u2019, which addresses the issue of environmental anxiety. Stripped back to replicate my solo music, my vocals are accompanied by Ricky Joseski on guitar. A live music performance video will be paired with this song. \u2018Like A Girl\u2019 follows, with a vocal ensemble of 5 females: Kaitlin Lawler, Juniette Roa, Jessica Tan, Allison Wales and myself, who also plays the keyboard. The song addresses what it\u2019s like growing up as a female in this society, which will come across powerfully when this vocal ensemble of women perform it at the concert. The final track, \u2018Backwards\u2019, is a general overview of social issues, and how it seemed we were improving but lately we\u2019ve been falling back into bad habits. This song portrays the style of music I play with my band, FiKa, and how I\u2019d like to compose more of my own music in future. Alex Ferrandino\u2019s bass, Jack Andrews\u2019 guitar, Ricky Joseski\u2019s drumming and my keyboard playing creates an upbeat funk.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
