Well, a proper start this time. My hard drive is filled with countless half-finished songs, every one of them killed off by indecisiveness and perfectionism. As I approached this project, I knew I’d have to go from killing my darlings to killing my habits, letting my ideas flourish instead of abandoning them in the wake of new ones.

Both songs on this project are entirely self-recorded and produced in my bedroom. I embrace this D.I.Y vibe in my recordings, heavily inspired by the likes of Slow Pulp and Current Joys, and build mixes dominated by aggressive compression and fuzziness. There’s also an emotional catharsis I allude to with the heavy-handed production of these songs, which embeds expression into every inch of the project both lyrically and sonically.

Whilst I love being a lone creator, Miranda Green is a common collaborator of mine. Her technical insight (and background vocals) elevates the armrest single project far beyond what it would be as an entirely self-contained work.

Artist Bio armrest is the solo project of self-producing multi-instrumentalist Riley Geer.
